Jacob Rees Mogg took Emergency Questions from MPs in the House of Commons on 22nd September 2022 in response to his Written Ministerial Statement issue that day. In the WMS he overturned the moratorium on fracking imposed in 2019 following earth tremors at Preston New Road, Little Plumpton. In the WMS he stated that those living and working near to sites would have to “tolerate a higher degree of risk and disturbance” which appeared to be “in the national interest”! Basically, that communities would be guinea pigs in the pursuit of gas as a result of lobbying by the crestfallen, desperate industry!
He claimed that “compensation” equated to “consent” in response to several direct questions from MPs, including Tory MPs, who asked how the proviso of “with local support” promised by Liz Truss in the House just a week before would work. MPs were outraged that his only answer was that the developers would be responsible for a package of compensation.
We are outraged and we are preparing a campaign to defeat this environmental catastrophe! More to follow…….
